I got a Pixie Cut (again)

Last February, boredom hit me. So I decided to cut my hair again into a pixie.

one last look before I say good bye to my 6 inch long hair

I had my haircut done at David's Salon in SM Manila, Ms. Eva (not sure if she's a senior hairstylist) was the one who did the haircut. What actually decided me to have this haircut is because of Rie Aliasias.

the outcome was more like Basha Eugenio from One More Chance

The outcome was pretty great. Now I just have to maintain the look by spending at least five minuted in the blower every morning hahahaha!

If you like this haircut, kindly look for Ms. Eva at David's Salon SM Manila branch. She has been my hairstylist since 2018. The haircut costs almost 450php.

Marisa Tomei in Only You (1994)

I still don't know when will I get this haircut again, pero sa susunod, I'll have this pixie haircut from Marisa Tomei's 1994 film Only You.

'til then.

Otit playlist (Playlist of the Uncles)

Hello Psychos,

Your mom is back at writing. Sorry if I haven't wrote for a long time 'cause the corporate world ate me. Also, Netflix and other stuff.

Anyhow, while smoking my Marlboro Blue. I realized that I like listening to old synthpop songs while hitting the nicotine.

So I created a playlist for my old soul readers. By the way, this isn't my uncles playlist. I just putted 'uncle' to show that these songs are almost two decade old. These are also the songs that our uncles (middle aged men) dances whenever they are drunk.

First on the list is P.S.Y's Angelina. This song was popular in the Philippines back in the 90's (as told by the boomers). I like the message of the song because it's all about reaching your dream while being young.

Sadly, the main vocalist-Yassine Dahbi has already passed away.

This italian song was also popular back in the 90's here in the Philippines. I like this more than the remix version (which was more popular than the original version). This is Due by Raf.

Would you believe that this duo was once part of the more popular new wave band New Order? Yes, they are. The Other Two's Selfish became more popular when the House Music genre entered the scene. Click this link to listen.

and the last one is The Knack's classic My Sharona. The film Reality Bites (1994) changed the way on how I listen to this music.

Happy listening :)

Being regularized

Hello Psychos,

Okay so I've been working for the past 6 months now and this November, I will be regularized. That means that I'll have my uniform and get a taste of the company benefits.

For those of you who do not know (or not updated), I am working as a Social Media Concierge/Marketing Assistant in a motel company. My work includes of daily posting 24/7 as well as answering inquiries through our social media pages with turnover time of 12-hours for weekdays and 24-hours for weekends. Promoting the brand during events through our loyalty cards is also part of my job.

Simple as my work may seem but it is not. My first months of working in this company has been really tough for me. I've had sad days but I know pain means learning.

My six months journey at this company has been really tough.  But I know it is for myself too. So cheers to regularization, self. *toasts*

Old habits die hard

Hello Psychos,

So apparently, I've been reading Liz Uy's book StyLized for quite a while now. I found it best to read during weekend mornings kasi no hassle to break the fast (weh hehe).

It's been a while since I stopped reading fashion and lifestyle magazines like Candy and Meg. Recently, I found myself enjoying fashion-again. HAHA! I fond of watching Laureen Uy and Camille Co vlogs on YouTube. Ewan ko eh, I kinda like their lifestyle even through I kinda was about to turn into minimalist simple-living teen months and months ago haha.

Screengrab from my Instagram account. Liz Uy's StyLized

As of the moment I've been eyeing on Fendi Baguette. Also parang gsuto ko narin palitan yung name ng blog ko hahaha. Magiging Lifestyle blogger narin kaya si Jace? Kaya kaya suportahan ng kanyang minimum wage ang kanyang bet na lifestyle? Hahaha! ABANGAN...

Keeping the faith

I've been gone through A LOT while having my hiatus on blogging. Sleepless nights doing our thesis, spending overnight on Starbucks, restless TV and Radio production, trying to get luck on Tinder Haha!

My last entry is about updating you guys that I'm now in my senior year in university. Currently, I'm on my last semester now and I only got 1 month for school. Our graduation will be on June this year and I'm just so excited to graduate in this school and just give that diploma to my parents.

One saturday afternoon while cleaning my stuff, I have stumbled into this Orocan box filled with my High School memories-retreat letters, pictures, slambooks, and my High School Yearbook. I opened my yearbook looking for my page and right before my eyes have seen the whole page the word 'Ambition' caught me saying To Be a Radio Jockey/ Columnist. Hehe.

Looking back at the years I've spent in college is just an ethereal view of my milestones I have achieved. I only got one month now for school so I guess I'll just bring the best of me this time. That's all.

PS. About my Tinder, I already got my luck ;)

5. Went on a friendly date with a Tinder match
6. Had a very bad hangover I can't eat my breakfast the next morning
7. Tinder again

Hahahaha! That's all I can remember for now but you know me I'm a lazy ass chic. For now I'm on my last year now in college so Hello Senior Year!!!!! Hoping that everything will go smoothly this school year even if it's quite impossible. Haha! Cheers to life for good and bad/

Only Fools Rush Things

Disclaimer: This column article was originally made for the company I was supposed to be spending my summer internship. This was the shorter version of my previous article which is the "Existential Crisis"

https://www.google.com.ph/search?q=thinking+gif&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwivi-yD_77TAhVGUZQKHWCeAUUQ_AUIBigB&biw=1366&bih=662#tbm=isch&q=shy+reaction+gif&imgrc=5q54blODejS2dM:

I always laugh at myself every time I remember how I dealt my depression last year. And if you ask me where the culprit came-I am, the only one who causes pressure to myself.

Long before I get to know these two types of goals, I planned on getting a US Visa. Yes, at the age of 19. You know getting this visa isn’t a joke, right?

I don't know if it's just me or the queue of people outside the embassy but the All-time Filipino dream had brainwashed me. I really wanted to be an OFW in the land of the free and brave.

Since I'm a goal-getter person, it itches me not to achieve that goal soon. So then I became the instrument of my own destruction.

Thankfully, I had a chance to talk with my sociology professor in which he had given me answers to my black parade. He introduced me to two types of goals which are the Long and the Short-term goal.

Short-Term Goals refers to everyday agenda we are doing. It can be as simple as going home safely from work up to planning that reunion with your friends. While Long-Term Goals requires big decisions and tedious brainstorming. It can be that trip abroad or applying a loan for a car. Planning your Long-Term goals also requires patience since the name itself is self-explanatory, Long.

***
For now, my short term goal is to finish my studies and to graduate from college. About my long term one, I'll just let my fate do it for me.

My Usual Spot

My usual spot, Starbucks UN Ave. cor. Roxas Boulevard
In hundreds of coffee shop in the Metro Manila, I found my preferred sanctuary right in the corner of United Nations Ave. and Roxas Boulevard.

Despite of its huzzling buzzling location where cars pass by, the coffee shop is busy too because of its nearby establishments like the US Embassy, hotels, museums, firm buildings, etc.

My cousin finds it weird why I choose to stay outside the coffee shop, (well so I can smoke to be honest,). I'm an introvert person, even though (many) people think I'm an extrovert one. (No I'm not)

It doesn't give me that scophophilia (desire to look at) effect but I just really like the place given that a. It's my City b. I'm a coffee freak and c. I like to stare at people and cars

I'm just really weird.

still clueless for 2017

Hello Psychos, welcome to Psychedelic Tales or should I say welcome to the vast representation of my brain and all its knick-knacks. Stay updated and be foolish. You know you love me xoxo, J.

 whut? Hahaha!

So it's 2017 and for sure everyone planned to start their new year fresh and so am I. In my case, I just got back on watching Gossip Girl (that's why my introduction is GG-esque like). On School stuff I'm now on my second semester of my 3rd year in university. By the summer of this year, I will be starting my internship which means no summer vacation for me again.

elite kids of Upper East Side
For the second time, we spent our holidays last 2016 on Baguio City, it's a cold place up in the highlands of northern Luzon. It's all up in my youtube channel.

If you gonna ask me what's my plan this 2017 well I'm still clueless. But I'm planning on getting a driver's license and also try to buy a new pair of kicks maybe another Vans or a New Balance.

That's it, I just wanna update you guys, I'm leaving you with this happy-morbid song of Just Jack. I love you and Happy New Year.

Pixie Chic

I've been rocking my new Pixie haircut ever since the start of the semester. Everyone at school was shocked at my new hairdo since I've had long blondie-ish tresses back in summer. Some were impressed because they say I looked cute. (Yey!) others say "Were you on drugs" t(-__-)t
Last, last week I had it trimmed again and this time, it's waaaay more pixie than ever.

Webcam shot
Do I look pretty? Haha! Sometimes I miss my long hair too. It's hard to manage this kind of haircut cause there were times you're oddly seen with a lipstick on. Anyhow, I liked it and I've been getting compliments that I look more girly and cute in this haircut.

PS. Thank you Demi Moore for believing me that girls still do look good even on boy cut.

two souls, one heart

It’s funny how I find greatness on mundane things in life. One of it was witnessing two people exchanging vows to God- yep, a wedding.

Many people sees wedding in different views, usually to witness their friend getting married, some were just forced because it’s their relative. Others just come for the food. But in my view, I see wedding as an accomplished mission.

I remember what Plato said in his book The Symposium. “According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.”

You see, there’s a billion people in the world. And for me finding “The One” is an example of magic. Maybe there’s a reason why there are these hopless romantic 50 year olds whose still unmarried. It’s because they haven’t find their “The One”.

So if you’re now married, just got married, Be Thankful; because you found the one. Your what they call “Better half”. So fill that flute wine glass up! And cheers!

For here or to go?

I love coffee houses. The excitement of walking through the door, respecting the push/pull sign so you won’t create a faux pas, the aroma of roasted coffee beans. Heavenly haven. But sometimes, that excitement will turn down by 'some' intimidating baristas. And the excitement was gone.

In the Philippines where I live, people have a mentality that getting a cup of Starbucks in hand means you're 'sosyal' or what they mean is 'classy'. I got that mentality growing up so I thought of Starbucks as a mecca for classy people or businessmen— which I find intimidating when you're 12 years old wearing a High School Musical shirt.

But that mentality was busted for a long, long time ago. Anyway, I once had an unpleasant experience with a barista. She had this "Passive Aggressive" bravado kind of thing which I found intimidating. She was smiling though, but you know when a person is being sarcastic, but I smiled back. I stated my order which is a single Grande Caramel Macchiato, asked my name, and then she asked me a thought-provoking question. "For here or to go?" like what???????????????

I was standing there, dead air. Then she said "Iinumin mo ba dito or i-te take out mo sya?" were you gonna drink it here or like to have it in a to go cup? I choose to take it out.

But wait, I find her wrong. She said "For here or To go?". That's wrong!!! that must be "Would you like it to be in a mug or for a to go cup?" right? do I make sense? Haha!

scream queens emma roberts starbucks pumpkin spice extra hot

Anyway, that's just some kind of funny, unpleasant experience. The next time a barista does that to me with their "Starbucks English" accent (thePhilippines has that, may not apply to the US or England), I'll ask them if they speak Valyrian or Dothrakis and, without a word, I'll just say Dracarys. Hahaha!

Existential Crisis

Back in May, I suffered from what is called 'Existential Crisis'. It's funny that by the age of 19, I started worrying about my life for the next 5 years. I mean, seriously, I'm too young to worry about my future.

There are a lot of factors that triggered my anxiety about my existence in Gaia. First is college. I'm in my junior year now in my university, and that means when I get back to school this August, I'll have to start my thesis. My university is known for producing good talents in the field of Communication, which is my major. And in my field, it requires a lot of creativity and hard work just to be criticized by audiences. There are also A LOT of talented youngsters in my major. You should be competitive and always have fresh ideas. I also suffered from Education Fatigue. Education Fatigue is the same as Senioritis. That’s what my drama professor said. It usually happens in the mid-year of your school years. It feels like you're tired of school and just want to lie in bed until you get bored.

Another factor is about what career I'm gonna get into after college. I've saw some of my colleague which in their mid 20's doing job hoping from one work to another. It's like their never happy from their job because they never settle. I was scared that I could be like them 5 years from now. There's a lot of job position in my field anyway, since I'm a Communication student, which is like the umbrella of all the branches of media. I can be in print journalism, advertising agency, TV Network. I know I have the guts to work my ass off but after I got rejected from my job interview at Starbucks (Which is I kinda played :P) I was kinda terrified to get rejected again. and again. and again. But still I'm a young person full of idea. It's their loss. Hahahaha suckah! kidding.

Lastly, it is about the way of living here in the Philippines. It never got into my mind before to have an American Dream, like living there. This is kinda hard to understand, and you might wanna judge me. But I wished (before, back when I was having a crisis) that Americans hadn’t lost the battle to the Japanese or that I wished Gen. Douglas MacArthur came back. I don't know why I'm brainwashed to live in the States or in Canada. I was like kinda itchy to graduate college and apply for a Visa. And work abroad and settle. I was kinda tired of living in the city life here in Metro Manila, where it's hard to commute because of the high density of people and the traffic. Also, the fact that being a homosexual here in the Philippines isn't accepted but just tolerated. I was thinking that if I lived my ass off to the US or Canada, where being a chick with a dick is less oppressed or accepted. Maybe I can get the love I deserve. Well, I never know until I get there though. I'm also afraid that if I get there, the grass is much greener from where I came from. But whatever, fuck it, destiny.

Lelaina Pierce, Valedictorian, can't get a job (Reality Bites, 1994, Universal Pictures)

Anyhow, I've found the culprit behind these anxieties: it's because I was rushing things. I'm rushing things that should be happening at the right place and the right time. And that's the habit I should've stopped.

Thankfully, I'm now happy and contented with my current situation. I've put aside my plans for getting a visa for a moment 'till I get a stable job and earn money. I'm now focused on school and my job internship next summer. Though sometimes reality bites me like a mosquito, I easily bust it through living in the moment with a cup of caramel macchiato in my hand. :)

Odd things you'll find in my wallet

I was in Starbucks in Aseana City last Friday morning, waiting for my friend Karl to finish his job orientation. I was so bored that morning waiting for his job interview to be done. My guy was still sleeping, so I can't talk to himtill he was up. That's why I'll just share with you guys what’s inside my wallet.

How lucky I am

High School Graduation Rates
source: takepart.com

I’ve been enrolled in a private school throughout my school years. I never experienced being in a public school. Which is why I kinda wanna be when I was little since my playmates in the neighborhood go to public school and I felt out of place. Anyway, throughout high school, I’ve excelled in my studies. I mean not that I’m really an A-student, but I’m the type of person who ‘works hard, plays hard’. Which means I value my friends/ classmates more than schooling, which is a priority.

Now that I’m in college, my mom lets me pay the tuition fee (I don’t pay my tuition fee; still, my parents send me off to college. That’s how it goes here in the Philippines; unless you really have to provide yourself, unlike in other countries, you have to work your ass off to get yourself into college). And you know, college isn’t a joke.

It requires a lot of money and hard work. So the first time my mom handed me a brick fortune of cash, I felt ashamed. Seriously. I felt privileged, loved, and ashamed at the same time. That moment, I blurted out the words ‘Wow’ and ‘Gosh’. (I can’t say Thank You; it’s so cheesy LOL) and my mom asked ‘why?’ and I just said nothing.

I went upstairs and looked at the cash that I had in my hand. And I was thinking how this person let go of a huge amount of money; they worked themselves and I just spent it. That moment I cried inside and I promised to myself that I will work hard and well to graduate college and pay back what they’ve given me. Though we weren’t a kind of family that says ‘I love you’, what they’re providing me is an unspoken truth of love.

seven hours away

source: http://www.hippoquotes.com/airport-quotes-tumblr
seven hours away,
I love you; day by day

sun kissed skin is all you want,
just your voice is all I want

in this crazy world we have,
you're the only only person I don't want to get sad

I always whisper to my faceless God,
every night I pray that one day

despite being seven hours away,
punch, drunk, love,

we will meet someday

The art of contentment

It's hard to be contented for a person whose a 'Goal getter'. I know being a Goal getter is a good attitude because it's a key to your success. But sometimes, being a Goal getter isn't always good. There's also a downside, it's the itch of being discontented.

Well there's also a popular saying that "Life is Unfair". Yeah, life is unfair when it does not cooperate in your favor. When it does not cooperate in your favor, you'll get sad. Because the truth is you can't always get what you want. And that's fine because it will teach you the  art of contentment.

"Without pain, we couldn't know joy"- John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

See? That's right, so if you're sad right now because life doesn't cooperate with you, It's FINE. You'll get through of it.

For now, think about that It's not an excuse to be sad because of the things that you don't have, but it's making on something that you do have.

Maybe, this is not the right time for you to have that thing. Don't worry because good things comes to those who wait and it will come to you soon, in God's perfect time. *wink*
