Late night chimera

One cold night of June, while sipping a cherry Dr. Pepper soda, I found myself watching 'Sex and the City' reruns every night in front of the TV at Star World.

I really love 'Sex and the City' with it's funny antics and glamorous lifestyle, plus Carrie is a columnist-no wonder I fell in love with the show. That's why I cried when I heard that The CW canceled one of my favorite show; The Carrie Diaries which is the life of  Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) herself when she's living her teen life in the 80's.

Photo from The CW
In the show (The Carrie Diaries), Carrie deals with lots of youth problems just like sex, love, friends, and dreams. She also struggles to be an intern at Interview Magazine. I was always fascinated about stories of people reaching their dreams that's why I found the series interesting. In my case, I just compared myself to Carrie because were both writers (Blogger lang po ako, novice pa. Haha!) and the fact that we always dream about one of the city that never sleeps; New York. Okay, drop New York, minus the 'sex' also 'love' plus our 'passion' Hahaha!. Maybe right now I could only step to those Makati Business District pavements doing errands or watch the Ortigas Skyline while carpooling on my cousin's car but maybe someday, who knows, that this kid from the suburbs sipping cherry colas while fighting writer's block and subway rides is the next Bradshaw. *wink*

ALL THE RAGE: Pumped-up kicks to flaunt this 2015

Touchstone Pictures. Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)
Marilyn Monroe once said "Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world". I bet Marilyn was talking about designer shoes like Valentino, Manolo, or Jimmy Choos. But this post wasn't about High-ends, After all, the world is not New York (to flaunt those shoes). Entering street fashion, having a subcultural sense of style is a must. Well, If I were given to rephrase that qoutation, I must say "Give a young man the right kicks and he'll got a lot of swag." So to revamp your closet details this 2015, these kicks will surely get a tons of likes on Instagram.

1. Adidas Superstar/Supercolor
Forget about Nike Roshe Run because these colorful kicks are so on fleek! I've seen lots of celebrities rocking these shoes including my favorite blogger & raker Saab Magalona-Bacaro.

2. Saucony
I've never heard of this shoe brand before but I'm seeing famous people endorsing this brand like Joyce Pring of Magic 89.9 and a lot of sports enthusiasts here in the Metro.

Saucony Jazz in Camouflage is kinda cool though

3. Superga
What is so super about Superga? Honestly, I don't know. Hahaha! (Grabe non-sense) this just bombarded the Philippines last month. Just like Saucony, a lot of Celebrities and bloggers rin were endorsing this brand from Italy. Why don't we just give Superga a shot? Check out Superga store in Bluebay Walk, Greenbelt 5, and Rustan's store.

Maybe what's super in Superga is that Alexa Chung endorses it.

4. Onitsuka Tiger
This Japanese shoe brand is to-die-for. If you're living here in Metro Manila and you see a person wearing these bad boy, I'm definitely sure he/she is a kicks connoisseur.

5. New Balance (574)
New Balance is back! Their 574 collections were really on fleek, these are perfect if you're pulling a Normcore fashion. Here's some of the 574's that I like.

Ditch that: Overrated things you used to like

Fashion is Innovative. One day you've rocked that piece and next thing you know is that everybody wears it; just like the legendary white Birks. Having a unique sense of style is a must, but sadly these pieces just went viral and became overrated that you need to ditch wearing. #mainstream

1. White Birkenstock (Arizona)

These pretty-ugly mandals have come back to the fashion world since the start of year 2015. I've seen bloggers and celebrities wearing this chic sandals flaunting their Minimalist style. My older folks also said that this footwear was a hit during their time which is way back in 80's popularly calle "Hang-Ten". Going back, sadly these footwear was in everyone's feet nowadays. What makes me more sadder is that I've saw fake Birks online. Tsk tsk. Bye bye Normcore.

2. Vintage Gold CASIO watch

I used to have this watch because of its elegant color and it'll totally transform your style into classy. Sadly, I saw fake pieces of this in Bangketas and many people often wear this.

3. Nike Roshe Run (Classic Black)

Talkin about normcore fashion. This trendy piece of Nike really bombarded the teen culture. Sadly, as I said, it went overrated.

4. Comme des Garcons ("Like Boys")

Comme des Fuckdown. Let us all give thanks to the queen of all media; Kris Aquino for wearing this subculture shirt all throughout the episodes of KrisTV and for making this brand go mainstream so now you can see shirts with printed hearts with peculiar eyes in the streets of Divisoria. One word, Fake.

WARNING:
The next thing you'll see is not a fashion piece and it might offend you

5. VSCO

#VSCOcam #VSCOphile #VSCO #VSCOlikemyphoto #VSCObasicbitchesusesthishashtagjusttogainlikes Bull to the crap.

*calmed tits* Seriously, I never ever thought that this magical 'turn my photo into a minimalist looking' app will be going viral. I've been using these app for like 3 years and then one day, I just saw my Instagram friends using it and I was like "Oh that's A6, HB1" which is kinda a good thing. What makes me sad is that some people uses vsco  just to gain likes! for example"Pancit Canton for merienda, Chibugan na! #VSCOcam" and also the thing that many people were restarting their IG feed just for it to become VSCOcam filtered feed. Deleting their photos plus their memories just for a clean-crisp minimalist feed (for me) is a bad decision.  If you're my friend and you're reading this right now, and you feel like I offended you. Sorry not sorry.
